Who should use this?
People who require additional spinal support to allow them to perform activities of daily living , lifting activities at work or during manual or heavy tasks. Suitable for use from late adolescence to late Middle age. It can also be used to provide support during sporting activity and training.
It is suitable for people with conditions such as:
- Inter vertebral Disc Lesions: bulge, prolapse, herniation
- Lumbar Spondylosis : Wear and tear arthritis in the lumbar spine
- Spondylolysis : Stress reaction / fracture through the pars interarticularis
- Spondylolisthesis Grade 1 : fracture through the pars interarticularis with slippage; suitability for use with this condition should be advised by your medical practitioner or doctor.
- Facet Joint Syndrome or injury
- Back strains and sprains - injuries to the soft tissues: muscles, tendons or ligaments
This brace can be used by people with acute low back pain to help them mobilise and more safely perform the activities of daily living they cannot avoid such as making the bed, loading the washing machine etc. It is also useful if people simply have to return to work affording extra protection during periods of more acute pain.
For people with more chronic degenerative conditions such as spondylosis (arthritis) using this back brace during painful or stressful activities such as vacuuming, loading the dishwasher etc helps to protect the spine and makes these tasks easier and less painful. It can simply be removed after these activities ensuring the muscles are not overprotected which can lead to weakening during normal low grade activities.
How Does It Work:
This type of back brace augments the natural muscular corset of abdominal and spinal muscles which support the lumbar spine. Eight dynamic steel stays provide local lumbar support helping to maintain the lumbar curve or lordosis and reducing stress on the lumbar musculature, ligaments and discs.
