This Mueller cold pack is an elastic body wrap with a removable strap that helps to fix the ice pack to those awkward joints and areas. The ice pack is a standard reusable flexible pack that freezes quickly but remains malleable to conform to the injured body part.
Who Should Use This?
This cold pack is for individuals who require a versatile solution to holding an ice pack on to those awkward areas and want an ice pack solution that can be used on all appropriate body areas. It allows cold with compression to be applied and allows the injured person to continue to move (if appropriate). It is useful for sports injuries and all soft tissue injuries where cold is required to limit internal bleeding, swelling and inflammation.
How Does it Work?
Cold or cryotherapy can be used to vaso-constrict local blood vessels following injury. Short periods of cold applied immediately after injury restrict local blood supply and this limits bleeding and thus subsequent swelling or oedema. Cooling also reduces the metabolic demand of surrounding tissues so they become less likely to suffer injury due to interruption of their normal blood supply during the injury. Often used as part of the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) protocol
