Adjustable Mueller Lumbar Back Brace

An elasticated wrap around brace re-enforced with flexible metal stays incorporating a lumbar support cushion. The brace allows self adjustment via support straps. It may be worn under or over clothing.

Who Should Use This?

People who require additional postural support of the lumbar lordosis may prefer this product to our alternative Mueller back braces. This brace is identical plus it incorporates a removable lumbar support pad that holds the lumbar lordosis in the optimum position. It is Suitable for use from late adolescence to middle age.

It is suitable for people with conditions such as:

• Inter vertebral disc lesions – bulge, prolapse, herniation
• Degenerative conditions such as lumbar spondylosis: wear and tear arthritis in the lumbar spine
• Spondylolysis: stress reaction / fracture through the pars interarticularis
• Facet Joint Syndrome or injury
• Back strains and sprains – injuries to the soft tissues: muscles, tendons or ligaments

This brace can be used by people with acute lower back pain to help them mobilise and perform more safely the activities of daily living they cannot avoid such as bed making, loading washing machines etc. It is also useful if patients simply have to return to work affording extra protection during periods of more acute pain. This brace may not be suitable if patients have a loss of lumbar extension or facet joint arthropathy or in conditions such as spondylolisthesis who often find our alternative Mueller back braces more appropriate.

How Does it Work?

This support helps to maintain the lumbar lordosis or curve in the optimum position affording the position of least stress to the spinal elements and soft tissues. It also augments the natural muscular corset of abdominal and spinal muscles which support the lumbar spine. Eight dynamic steel stays provide local lumbar support helping to maintain the lumbar curve or lordosis and reducing stress on the lumbar musculature, ligaments and discs.
